Multiple Law Enforcement Action taken by Reasi police in view of forthcoming R-Day

Reasi, Jan 22: In view of the forthcoming Republic Day-2026 celebrations, District Police Reasi has intensified security measures, including tenant verification drives, census of people, naka checking and crime prevention activities to ensure public safety and maintenance of law and order.
During a tenant verification drive, it was found that one person namely Rehmatullah S/O Nazir Ahmed, caste Pathan, R/O Kalka Nagar Kun Drorian had kept a tenant namely Nazir Ahmed S/O Gaziya, R/O Larh, Reasi (Occupation: Labourer) without mandatory tenant verification, thereby defying the orders promulgated by SDM Katra regarding compulsory disclosure of tenant information.
Accordingly, a case has been registered at Police Station Katra and further legal action is underway.
Meanwhile, Police Station Katra successfully solved a theft case within 24 hours and recovered stolen property worth approximately ₹20,000.
On 19/01/2026, FIR No. 25/2026 under Section 305(c) BNS was registered at P/S Katra on the complaint of Malkit Singh S/O Sabay Ram R/O Vijaypur, Reasi, who is the driver of bus bearing Registration No. JK02DL-7501. He reported that on the night of 16-01-2026, he had parked his bus near Asia Morh, Katra and upon returning the next morning, found that unknown persons had stolen one 24-inch LED TV, one 9-inch LED TV, and two speakers from the vehicle.
During the investigation, the police team, using both human and technical intelligence, traced and arrested the accused Pinku Mehta SO Shambu Mehta R/O Bhutan, Katra, Reasi. On sustained interrogation, he disclosed that he had handed over the stolen items to Lucky Sharma S/O Satpal Sharma R/O Nelay, Katra, Reasi, who had concealed them in his house.
On his disclosure, the stolen items were recovered from the said location. Lucky Sharma has also been booked under Section 317(2) BNS for dishonestly receiving stolen property knowing it to be stolen. Both accused have been arrested and the stolen property has been recovered. Further investigation is in progress.
In another significant action, a naka was established at Balini Naka, Katra by a team from P/S Katra. During routine checking, a lady namely Sanjana W/O Deepak R/O Ward No. 1, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi, travelling from Reasi towards Katra, was apprehended.
Upon checking, approximately 42.62 grams of Ganja-like substance was recovered from her possession.
