| Difference between the Constitution of Maya/ Materialistic World, the Constitution of God? | | | early times report
Jammu, Jan 22: Today is 26 January, India’s Republic Day. On 26 January 1950, the Constitution of India came into force. What is a constitution? Whenever something new is created in the world, certain rules are made for it. This world is maya—that which exists today may not exist tomorrow. And maya cannot function without rules. Since this world is created by God, it is natural that rules exist wherever maya exists. When India became independent, it also needed its own rules. Before 1947, India did not have its own constitution. After independence on 15 August 1947, it was decided that the country would have its own system of governance. Under the leadership of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, along with many other contributors, rules were framed and compiled into a book called the Constitution of India. God—the creator of the universe and the one who operates it from within every being as the soul—has no rules. But when God created this world (maya), rules came into existence. When humans were born into this world, rules were also made for them. These rules are described in the Upanishads and ancient scriptures. God says: “I have created the human body from head to toe. The first rule is that humans have no ownership over their body—it is created by Me. And when I have kept everyone free, why should one human bind another? There is only one true owner of all.” Whatever destiny a person receives in this world is the result of past actions and desires from previous lives. Therefore, one should accept life as it is and understand: whatever happened was good, whatever is happening is good, and whatever will happen will also be good. This is the true constitution of the world. But in contrast, human beings become attached to this temporary body and believe it to be their true self. This attachment leads to suffering and regret at the end of life. One who understands the true laws of life rises above happiness and sorrow and enters a state of inner joy. Such a life becomes truly successful. God’s constitution is recorded in the Upanishads. The Vedas explain the workings of this world. Yet we see that kings are unhappy, people are unhappy—everyone is unhappy. If a person dies with even one unfulfilled desire, they must return to this world again and cannot reach their true home. When the soul understands these laws, only one task remains—to unite with God. India’s Constitution deals with the management of maya—the material world. It talks about rules related to the body and society. But God’s constitution speaks about the soul—the inner reality of a human being. The laws of the soul are written in holy scriptures of the world. So now is the time to awaken. When the country became free, its constitution was written. But when will humans become free? The human constitution is already written—in Shruti and Smriti—and explained through the Bhagavad Gita, Dhammapada, Mahavira’s teachings, the Guru Granth Sahib, the Quran, the Bible etc. On this Republic Day, take time to understand your inner constitution. Read it, reflect on it, and free yourself. Only then will this human birth be truly successful.
