BBBP team organises inspiring awareness camp at GMS, Channi Himmat
1/22/2026 6:58:48 PM

early times report

Jammu, Jan 22: Reaffirming the unwavering commitment of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign towards empowering the girl child, Convenor State Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, J&KUT, Ritika Trehan today led an impactful and inspiring awareness camp at Government Middle School (GMS), Channi Himmat, Jammu. The campaign was organized with the clear objective of sensitising young girls and the wider community about the transformative power of education and the pivotal role girls play in shaping the future of society.
The awareness camp was conducted in collaboration with Co-Convenor Indu Puri, Vice President Monika Khosla , and a dedicated team of volunteers, who collectively delivered a powerful message of gender equality, self-belief, and ambition.
Through real-life success stories and relatable examples, the team inspired young girls to pursue education fearlessly and aspire beyond traditional limitations. The speakers stressed that true equality begins when girls are given equal opportunities to learn, grow, and lead.
Addressing students and faculty with conviction and clarity, Convenor State Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, J&KUT, Ritika Trehan underscored that the campaign’s core objective goes far beyond creating awareness. She described the initiative as a sustained social movement aimed at transforming deeply rooted mindsets, breaking stereotypes, and establishing education as the fundamental right and strongest shield of every girl child. Trehan stressed that true empowerment begins when society collectively believes in the potential and capability of girls.
Highlighting the far-reaching impact of girl education, Ritika Trehan stated that educating a girl is equivalent to empowering an entire generation.
An educated girl, she noted, grows into a confident woman who nurtures enlightened families, contributes to economic growth, strengthens social harmony, and actively participates in nation-building.
She urged students to see education not merely as academic learning, but as a powerful tool to overcome social barriers, attain self-reliance, and realise their aspirations with dignity and confidence.
Ritika Trehan further emphasized that in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign places strong focus on grassroots-level outreach, particularly in schools.
By engaging young minds at an early age, the initiative seeks to instill self-belief, leadership qualities, and a sense of equality among girls. She maintained that early encouragement and supportive educational environments play a decisive role in shaping fearless, independent, and socially responsible citizens.
Stressing the collective responsibility of society, Trehan observed that societal progress is impossible without the active participation of educated girls and women. She called upon parents, teachers, and community leaders to become equal partners in this mission by nurturing girls’ education, ensuring their safety, and providing them with opportunities to grow without discrimination.
According to her, empowerment is sustainable only when families and institutions stand united in supporting the girl child.
