REASI, Jan 22: District Police Reasi, continuing its strict enforcement of law and order, apprehended one person for violating prohibitory orders related to possession of liquor. On 21.01.2026, a police team at PCP Panthal under Police Post Kakryal apprehended Manohar Lal S/O Giyan Chand R/O Taleen, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi, who was found in possession of 12 bottles of liquor (DMB Whisky). It is pertinent to mention that the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Katra, vide Order No. SDM/K/2025-26/81-96 dated 02.01.2025, had prohibited possession and consumption of liquor in various notified areas, including within a 100-meter radius on both sides of the Tikri-Panthal Road. The accused was found in clear violation of the said orders, thereby defying lawful directions promulgated by the competent authority. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 32/2026 U/S 223(a) BNS has been registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation into the matter is underway. The whole operation was carried out by IC PP Kakryal PSI Akhilesh Khajuria and SHO P/S Katra Insp. Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Vipan Chandran, JKPS. SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh-JKPS reiterates commitment to strictly enforce prohibitory orders and urges the general public to adhere to lawful directions to avoid legal action.
