Govt GLDM Degree College, Hiranagar organizes one-day entrepreneurship awareness programme

HIRANAGAR, Feb 21: Government GLDM Degree College Hiranagar organized a one-day Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme in collaboration with Indian Institute of Management Jammu with the support of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) for Kathua cluster colleges. The programme was organized by the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) of Government GLDM Degree College, Hiranagar.
The programme hosted by GDC Hiranagar witnessed enthusiastic participation from seven other colleges of the Kathua cluster, namely: GDC Kathua Boys, GCW Kathua, GDC Mahanpur, GDC Basohli, GDC Billawar, GDC Ramkot and GDC Marheen.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by the Principal, Dr. Pragya Khanna, who appreciated the consistent efforts of the IIC in promoting entrepreneurial spirit among students. She also read out the detailed report of various activities organized by the IIC from time to time and highlighted the significant achievements of the college in academic, innovation, and entrepreneurial domains. She emphasized the importance of innovation, start-ups, and self-employment in today's dynamic economic environment.
The Guest of Honour on the occasion was Dr. Anupama Gupta, Principal, GDC Marheen, who addressed the gathering and encouraged students to actively participate in entrepreneurial initiatives and skill-based programmes.
The distinguished resource persons included Kannav Padha, Manager, DST iTBI, IIM Jammu; Alankrit Mahajan, Executive Officer LEAD; and Manav Khajuria, Founder of Jobber. They delivered insightful sessions and informed the students about various MSME initiatives, start-up support mechanisms, incubation facilities, funding opportunities, and the role of innovation in nation-building.
A total of 60 students actively participated in the programme. The event also witnessed the presence of Sunny Badyal, an alumnus of GDC Hiranagar, a YouTuber and industrialist who inspired students through his success story and motivated them to explore innovative career pathways along with following their passion.
Dr. Anupama Arora, President IIC, GLDM Degree College Hiranagar, presented the formal vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the collaborating institutions, resource persons, and participating colleges for making the programme a grand success.
The programme was attended by IIC Committee members, faculty from different colleges, faculty from GDC Hiranagar Dr. Harvinder Kaur, Balbir Singh, Dr. Ram Krishan, Prof. Amit Kumar Sharma, Dr. Naveen Sharma, Prof. Shivani Slathia, Prof. Surinder Kumar, Prof. Neeru Sharma, Prof. Ganga Sharma, Dr. Rajni Bala, Prof. Tamanna Rajput, Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Prof. Shivalika, Dr. Devya Narayan, Dr. Nishu and Dr. Pinkey.
The proceedings of the programme were efficiently conducted by Professor Rakesh Sharma.
The programme concluded on a positive note with a renewed commitment to fostering entrepreneurship, innovation, and self-reliance among students of the Kathua cluster colleges.
