JAMMU, Feb 21: Renowned sports promoter Sunny Nanda, General Secretary of Raffa Boules India Federation, was honoured with the Sports Personality Award 2026 by Samdevna Society at a prestigious ceremony held at CRIS Jammu.
The award ceremony was graced by SSP Brijesh Sharma, JKAS, as the Chief Guest. The Guest of Honour was Deepak Dubey, JKAS, Joint Director, Information Department (Jammu). Harpreet Anand, Chairman of JSS, was also present on the occasion.
The event was hosted by Keshav Chopra, Chairman of Samvedna Society.
During the ceremony, speakers highlighted the exceptional contribution of Sunny Nanda, who is widely recognised as one of the few sports personalities in India dedicated to promoting new and emerging sports at the national level. His efforts include the development and popularisation of sports such as Bocce Ball (Raffa Boules), Speed Ball, and Go Game (mind sport) across various states of India.
Nanda is actively associated with Special Olympics Bharat (J&K) and also runs a sports NGO affiliated with the Government of India. He has played a key role in introducing Raffa Boules, a Bocce Ball discipline originating from Italy, under the CBI to different parts of India through structured training and competitions.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Sunny Nanda expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the dignitaries, organisers, and guests for recognising his work and honouring him with this prestigious award. |
