Jammu, Feb 22: The All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) has announced that elections for its leadership will be held in March, amidst allegations of unconstitutional amendments within the organization. The move comes after a caretaker president, appointed in 2019, failed to conduct elections as promised. According to a press release, the ASKPC, founded in 1921, has been a prominent socio-political organization representing the Kashmiri Pandit community. The organization’s last election was held in 2015, and the current caretaker president has been accused of sidelining senior office bearers and attempting to convert the organization into a trust. The community has taken serious note of these developments, with over fifty social and religious organizations expressing support for a reform initiative aimed at rejuvenating ASKPC. The organization has assured that the elections will be conducted transparently and democratically, in accordance with its constitution. The ASKPC has reiterated its commitment to unity and the collective aspirations of the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community, and has urged members to participate in the electoral process. |
