Jammu, Feb 22: The Jammu and Kashmir Fencing Association (JKFA) has lauded the selection of Harshit Kohli, a promising young fencing talent from Jammu, for the Junior Asian Fencing Championship scheduled to be held at Jakarta, Indonesia from 23rd to 27th February 2026 Harshit Kohli, an international sabre fencer of Jammu & Kashmir, once again showcased his exceptional technique, fitness, and competitive spirit during the Junior National Fencing Championship held at Cuttack, Odisha, where he delivered an outstanding performance by winning the Bronze Medal in the Sabre Individual Event. Pertinent to mention that Harshit Kohli has already been shortlisted for the Asian Games Preparation Camps, having successfully cleared two phases of selection trials alongside senior-ranked fencers of India. He is also a Khelo India Athlete and is presently training at the National Centre of Excellence Patiala (NCOE Patiala) in preparation for the Junior Asian Championship and other international events, including the Asian Games 2026, scheduled to be held in Japan The Secretary, J&K Sports Council Madam Nuzhat Gul congratulated Harshit Kohli on his achievement and extended her best wishes to him and his parents, wishing him great success in the upcoming international competition. The President of JKFA, Shri Vijay Kumar, alongwith **Secretary General Ms Supriya Chouhan** and other office bearers of the association, also expressed their happiness and extended heartfelt wishes to Harshit Kohli for a successful performance at the Junior Asian Fencing Championship. As per communication received from the Fencing Association of India, the Indian contingent has been cleared by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, with the entire cost of participation being borne by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Former International fencer and international-qualified referee Rashid Ahmed Choudhary, J&K Fencing, termed Harshit’s selection a proud moment for the region and expressed confidence that he would make the country proud on the international stage.
