Habitual drug peddler booked under section 111 BNS in NDPS case by Udhampur police

UDHAMPUR, Feb 26: On 21.08.2025, During routine traffic checking, police team of PP Tikri intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration No. JK14C-7728 coming from Jammu towards Udhampur for checking. Two persons were found riding the motorcycle who disclosed their identities as Sandeep Singh S/o Umesh Singh R/o Pangara Krimchi, Udhampur and Vikas Sharma @ Psycho S/o Ved Raj Sharma R/o Himbra, Udhampur.
During their personal search, 8.62 grams of heroin were recovered from their possession.
Accordingly, Case FIR No. 131/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Rehambal and investigation was taken up.
During the course of investigation in the said case, it has been established that the accused namely Vikas Sharma @ Psycho is involved in continuing offences under the NDPS Act. On scrutiny of records, the accused has been found previously booked in multiple NDPS cases, including FIR No. 335/2019, FIR No. 529/2019, FIR No. 505/2022 and FIR No. 77/2024, all U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act of P/S Udhampur.
Considering his repeated involvement in drug trafficking activities, Section 111 BNS has been invoked in the instant case as the matter qualifies under the organised crime category.
Further investigation is in progress.
