Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 26: In a case that has sent shockwaves rippling across the city, the brutal Gangyal park stabbing has transformed overnight into one of Jammu's most sensational murder mysteries — after the victim herself spoke from beyond the grave.
Rafia Bano, wife of Arif Jamal and resident of Gangyal, lost her battle for life at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC Jammu) — but not before leaving behind a bombshell dying declaration that has now gone viral, throwing the entire investigation into a dramatic new spin.
In a deeply disturbing video, now spreading across social media platforms, a gravely wounded Rafia Bano — barely clinging to life, her body riddled with stab wounds — can be heard making spine-chilling allegations against her alleged attacker, Amarjeet Singh alias Kaka, a resident of Model Town, Gangyal.
Her husband, Arif Jamal, claims he recorded the harrowing statement on his mobile phone as his wife lay fighting for her life in the hospital.
“I told him I was willing to marry him. I pleaded with him not to harm me or my child," a visibly distressed Rafia can be heard saying in the video, her words sending chills down the spine of every viewer.
But Amarjeet, she claimed, was in no mood for mercy.
The accused allegedly threatened that her child would not be spared — and chillingly added that the police could do nothing to stop him. Even as Rafia begged for her life, promising to return his money, the knife kept coming.
The dark tale behind this bloodbath stretches back nearly six years. Amarjeet Singh and Rafia Bano had been locked in a secret relationship — a relationship that, according to investigators, had curdled into a toxic cocktail of financial disputes and broken marital promises.
Amarjeet, who drove a passenger vehicle registered in his father's name, reportedly sold it to support Rafia financially. He then purchased an auto-rickshaw — and sold that too, handing over the proceeds to the woman he believed would one day be his wife. In total, he claims to have poured a staggering 11 to 12 lakh rupees into the relationship, lured by repeated promises of marriage.
Rafia Bano left behind a bombshell dying declaration the video of which has now gone viral.

Jammu Police have confirmed that the viral video of Rafia Bano’s dying declaration is now a key piece of evidence in the murder investigation.
But the marriage never came.
When Amarjeet began demanding his money back, the situation, he claims, turned sinister. He alleged that Rafia threatened to slap him with a false rape case if he continued pressing for repayment — a threat that, he told police, pushed him to the very edge of his sanity.
At the stroke of noon on Monday, the simmering rage finally exploded — in the most public and horrifying fashion imaginable.
Rafia Bano and Amarjeet Singh met at Rajiv Gandhi Park, Gangyal — a location that would soon be drenched in blood. What began as a tense conversation quickly descended into a screaming argument. Then Amarjeet produced a knife.
He stabbed her. Again. And again. Targeting her neck and multiple parts of her body in a frenzied, relentless assault that left onlookers paralyzed with horror. Rafia's screams pierced the afternoon air, drawing a crowd of panicked bystanders. By the time they reached her, Amarjeet had already vanished into the city.
Rafia was rushed to Rajiv Gandhi Hospital, Gangyal, and subsequently transferred to GMC Jammu — where, despite desperate efforts by medical staff, she succumbed to her injuries.
In a dramatic and deeply disturbing twist, Amarjeet Singh did not flee Jammu. Instead, he made his way to Satwari — and stabbed himself.
Alerted to the self-inflicted attack, Satwari Police rushed him to Rajiv Gandhi Hospital before he was transferred to GMC Jammu for further treatment. From his hospital bed, the accused confessed to his six-year relationship with the victim and laid out his version of the betrayal — the broken promises, the vanished money, and the threat of a false case — that he claims drove him to commit the unthinkable act.
Jammu Police have confirmed that the viral video of Rafia Bano's dying declaration is now a key piece of evidence in the murder investigation. Authorities say they are meticulously examining all aspects of the case — including the financial transactions, the nature of the relationship, and the explosive allegations made in the video — and have vowed to take the strictest possible legal action against the accused.
The case is under active investigation.
