69th Annual Sports meet concludes at DAV College

Amritsar, Mar 1: The 69th Annual Sports and Athletics Meet of DAV College, Amritsar concluded successfully on March 1, 2026, with the Prize Distribution Ceremony held at the College Sports Complex, Shastri Nagar.
The second day started with the gracious presence of Hon’ble S. Gurjeet Singh Aujla, Member of Parliament, Government of India, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
While addressing, MP Aujla recognised the contribution of DAV Fraternity in building strong sports background for the country, emphasising that DAV College, Amritsar, has produced best players in the field of cricket, shooting, wrestling and many more. He felicitated a grant of 5 lacs for the development and installation of new and hi-tech equipments for the students in the college.
During the second day, various sports events like races, high and longjumps and shot-put throw etc. were organised for the staff and the students.
The Prize Distribution ceremony was graced by the mayor Jatinder Singh Moti Bhatia. He presided over the ceremony as the chief guest. The ceremony commenced with the march past by the three contingents of the NCC and the NSS.
Annual Sports Report was read by Dr BB Yadav, Head, Department of Physical Education.In his address, the Chief Guest congratulated the winners and appreciated all participants for their dedication and sportsmanship. He emphasized that participation is as important as victory and encouraged students to balance academics with sports activities.
Dev from BA Sem II secured first position in 100 meters races (Men). Gurbir and Piyus from BSc IT Sem II secured second and third position respectively. Gourav from BA, Harpal and Shubham from BSc IT secured first, second, and third position in high jump, respectively.
Dev of BA was honoured with the Best Athlete Award in Men Category and Sandeep Kaur of MSc Maths was declared the Best Athlete (Women).
Dr. Amardeep Gupta, Principal of the College, congratulated the organizing committee and the Department of Physical Education for the smooth conduct of the event. He lauded the efforts of students and staff members whose cooperation ensured the grand success of the meet.
The event concluded with a vibrant presentation of Bhangra by the students of the college. A formal presentation of vote of thanks and the National Anthem, marked the successful completion of the two-day sporting celebration.
