| Childhood empowered through Anganwadi Centres under CM Yogi Govt | | | Early Times Report
Lucknow, Mar 1: The CM Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has presented a strong national example by working decisively toward child nutrition. In accordance with the guidelines of “Poshan 2.0,” fresh hot cooked meals are being provided to children in the 3 to 6 years age group attending Anganwadi centres across the state. Under this arrangement, nearly 3.6 million children are receiving hot meals. This initiative goes beyond mere food distribution and is integrated with a comprehensive strategy for early childhood care and development. The government has ensured that every eligible child receives regular, balanced, and warm meals to effectively curb malnutrition. Under the hot cooked meal program, children in the 3 to 6 years age group are provided supplementary nutrition for 25 days a month and 300 days a year. An expenditure of ₹4.50 per beneficiary per day has been fixed for this purpose. The Yogi government has implemented this financial provision through a transparent and accountable system, ensuring that funds are directly utilized for children’s nutrition. This has not only ensured continuity in nutritional support but has also strengthened the credibility of the Anganwadi system. The Hot Cooked Meal Scheme was initiated in August 2022 in the district of Ayodhya. Following its launch, the scheme was expanded in a phased manner across the entire state over the past three and a half years. The government’s clear intent has been to ensure that nutritional deficiencies in early childhood do not hinder future educational and physical development. As a result, both enrollment and attendance of children aged 3 to 6 years at Anganwadi centres have witnessed an increase. Positive indicators of improved nutritional levels among children have also been observed. The CM Yogi government has demonstrated that a healthy and empowered childhood forms the foundation of a Viksit Uttar Pradesh. The hot cooked meal scheme firmly establishes nutrition security as a governance priority. |
