Miran Sahib police achieves major breakthrough in fight against drug smugglers

JAMMU, Mar 3: Police Station Miran Sahib has achieved a significant breakthrough in its ongoing drive against narcotics trafficking & Organised Criminals (Gangsters) by apprehending two notorious drug peddlers and recovering a commercial quantity of heroin along with a sharp-edged weapon.
On 27.02.2026 at about 2030 hours, a Special Naka/Patrolling Party of Police Station Miran Sahib headed by Inspector Jatinder Singh, SHO Miran Sahib under the supervision of SDPO R.S. Pura & SP Headquarters Jammu was conducting naka checking at Ring Road near Link Road Prithvipur. During the checking, one Bolero vehicle bearing registration No. JK21A-8936, coming from the Prithvipur side, was signalled to stop. On noticing the police party, the occupants attempted to flee but were tactfully intercepted.
During interception, the driver attempted to attack police party with a long sword (sharp-edged weapon). However, due to the alertness and swift action of the police team, the attempt was foiled. Both accused persons then tried to escape by jumping into a nearby cemented drain approximately 20-25 feet deep but were immediately rescued and apprehended by the police party.
On enquiry, the accused disclosed their identities as:
1)Mushtaq Ali @ Kaka S/o Shah Din R/o Sarore Adda, Bari Brahmana, District Samba. &
2)Mangal Hussain @ Mangal S/o Qasim Din R/o Sarore Adda, Bari Brahmana, District Samba.
During personal search conducted on the spot, a total commercial quantity of heroin weighing 281 grams was recovered from their possession. The contraband was seized after following due legal formalities under the NDPS Act. One iPhone mobile handset, cash, and the long sword used in the commission of offence were also seized. The vehicle used for transportation of narcotics has also been seized.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that accused Mushtaq Ali @ Kaka is a habitual offender, drug peddler and a hardcore criminal. He is the main accused in FIR No. 24/2026 of Police Station Miran Sahib, in which he had intentionally hit HC Harnam Singh of PS MIran Sahib with his vehicle while attempting to evade police action. *Further, he is reported to be associated with the rival Gang of notorious drug peddler,Lau Gujjar.
Both accused have a history of involvement in narcotics trafficking and other criminal activities. They were reportedly procuring heroin from Punjab and supplying the same in the Jammu region.
Accordingly, FIR No. 35/2026 under Sections 109,132,111 BNS, 8,21,22,29,60 NDPS Act, 4/25 Arms Act and relevant sections of BNS has been registered at Police Station Miran Sahib and investigation is in progress to unearth the entire narcotics network, identify backward and forward linkages, and apprehend other associates involved.
A Police team of Police Station Miran Sahib led by SHO Miran Sahib, Inspector Jatinder Singh under the supervision of supervision of SP Headquarters Jammu & SDPO R S Pura,on 21.02.2026 while on routine patrolling under the jurisdiction of Police Station established a naka near Ballol and stopped one white swift vehicle bearing Registration No. JK02DJ/9786 for checking purpose.
It is also pertinent to mention here that one more accused,wanted drug peddler involved in the same case namely Fareed Ali @ Baba Ring Road @ Bagu S/O Salam Din R/O Galwanday chak Gajansu Marh Kanachak was arrested along with 14.03 gms of heroin & one toka & his swift vehicle was also seized
In that regard,a case FIR No.25/2026 U/S 8/21/22/60 NDPS Act & 4/25 Arms Act stands registered at Police Station Miran Sahib,
It is also important to mention here that on the disclosure of Fareed Ali ,12 gms of heroin(chita) and one toka was recovered from the Swift vehicle that was involved in the intention hit & run case of HC Harnam Singh of PS Miran Sahib.
Hence during investigation of intentional hit and run case so far 03 accused persons have been arrested and total 307 gms of heroin(chita) along with two sharp edged weapons and 03 vehicles(two swift vehicles and one Bolero) have been seized by Police Station Miran Sahib.
Jammu Police reiterates its firm resolve to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and appeals to the public to cooperate by sharing information related to drug trafficking and abuse.
Jammu Police also reiterates its firm commitment towards a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and organized crime and appeals to the public to share any information related to drug peddling in their areas.
