You Made J&K Proud
3/3/2026 10:47:19 PM
As J&K Ranji heroes arrived in Jammu after scripting history they were accorded a warm welcome. Jubilant fans thronged the airport and lined city streets to celebrate the landmark achievement.
The scenes at Jammu airport were nothing short of electric as the victorious team returned home, carrying not just a trophy but the dreams of an entire region fulfilled. After a 66-year wait, J&K had finally lifted the coveted Ranji Trophy, scripting a new chapter in the history of the sport in the Union Territory.
The team’s remarkable campaign culminated in a commanding win over the the formidable Karnataka cricket team, a side with a rich cricketing pedigree. But on the grand stage of the final, it was J&K who displayed composure, discipline, and dominance. Their commanding win was not a stroke of luck; it was the culmination of months of hard work, unity, and belief. From the opening match of the season to the final delivery in the summit clash, the team functioned like a well-oiled machine, outplaying opponents with both bat and ball.
Cricket players from J&K have proven their mettle and have shown it to the world that they are no less than anyone and they can compete at any level.
The J&K players acted like one unit and dominated all the teams during their Ranji campaign. Soon after their victory, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced Rs 2 crore as award to winning players and a government job for them.
The cricket in J&K remained in tatters for many decades but after 2019, situation changed for the sport in the Union Territory. During the past few years J&K cricket has not witnessed any politicization and players have focused on their game and the results are evident.
The real challenge lies ahead. Sustaining this success will require continued investment in grassroots cricket, transparent administration, and infrastructure development across districts. The Ranji triumph must not remain a solitary peak but should become the foundation of a sustained era of excellence.
J&K’s Ranji heroes have delivered more than a trophy; they have delivered belief. They have reminded the nation that talent thrives when given opportunity and stability. Their historic win is a watershed moment, not just for cricket in the region but for the collective spirit of its people. The roar that greeted them home was not merely applause — it was the sound of history being rewritten.
