ASCOMS College of Nursing Education crowned winner of Inter-College Quiz Competition

JAMMU, Mar 24: A highly engaging and intellectually stimulating quiz competition was successfully organized by Government Medical College Jammu in association with SMVD Institute of Medical Excellence, the AHA Jammu Chapter, and the J&K Nursing Council, Jammu. The Zone 2 event was held at the Auditorium of ASCOMS COLLEGE OF NURSING EDUCATION, SIDHRA, JAMMU. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting, symbolizing an auspicious beginning. The ceremony was led by Prof. Dr. Indra Moza, Principal of ASCOMS College of Nursing Education, along with Dr. Geetanjali Jasrotia, Prof. Davinder Kour (Vice Principal), and nodal officers from participating institutions.
In her welcome address, Dr. Indra Moza warmly greeted the participants and emphasized the vital role of nursing professionals in healthcare. She highlighted the importance of such academic events in fostering knowledge, critical thinking, skill development, and overall professional growth among nursing students.The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from leading nursing institutions, including ASCOMS College of Nursing Education, Bee Enn College of Nursing, Rajiv Gandhi College of Nursing, and Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah College of Nursing, Jammu. The event was meticulously coordinated by Dr. Geetanjali Jasrotia, Founder and Lead Consultant and National Assessor (NQAS). She was ably supported by the quiz masters-Ms. Parmeeta Kour (Associate Professor), Ms. Shikha Bhandari (Assistant Professor), and Mr. Ajay Kumar (Associate Professor), who efficiently managed the scoreboard. Their collective efforts ensured the smooth and successful execution of the event.
The quiz competition comprised two main rounds, each featuring four sub-rounds. The final round proved particularly challenging due to the inclusion of negative marking, ultimately determining the winners. After a closely contested competition, the results were officially announced by Dr. Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal of ASCOMS College of Medical Sciences & Hospital. The team from ASCOMS College of Nursing Education emerged victorious. The winning team included Tariq Ahmad Kumar, Sarbjeet Singh Bali, Sumaira Nazir, and Tabasum Nabi. On this occasion, Dr. Pavan Malhotra felicitated Dr. Geetanjali Jasrotia for her exceptional efforts in successfully managing the event. He also presented mementos to the winning team in recognition of their outstanding performance .All participating teams demonstrated commendable knowledge, enthusiasm, and a strong competitive spirit.
Looking ahead, the competition will advance to Zone 4, followed by the Final Quiz Contest at SMVD Institute of Medical Excellence Kakryal, Katra, on 7th April 2026, where the ultimate winner will be determined based on overall performance. Such initiatives play a crucial role in promoting academic excellence and encouraging healthy competition among future healthcare professionals.
