Kishtwar police nabs another drug peddler; heroin-like narcotic substance recovered

KISHTWAR, Apr 1: Continuing its sustained and intensified drive against drug trafficking under the ongoing War Against Drugs, District Police Kishtwar achieved another significant success by arresting a drug peddler and recovering a heroin-like (chitta) narcotic substance during naka checking near Sarthal Morh.
SSP Kishtwar Sh. Naresh Singh-JKPS, while sharing the details, stated that a police party from Police Station Kishtwar, led by SHO PS Kishtwar Insp. Firdous Ahmed and assisted by I/C Police Post Shalimar PSI Hiteshwar Singh along with other police officials, had laid a naka near Sarthal Morh under the supervision of Addl. SP Kishtwar Sh. Pardeep Singh Goria-JKPS.
During the naka checking, the police party apprehended one individual identified as Suhail Ahmed S/o Shabir Ahmed R/o Banderna. Upon conducting a thorough search, approximately 06 grams of heroin-like (chitta) narcotic substance was recovered from his possession. The accused was arrested on the spot.
Accordingly, FIR No. 64/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the contraband and to identify other persons involved in the illegal drug network.
SSP Kishtwar reiterated that District Police Kishtwar remains fully committed to its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and will continue its relentless efforts to eradicate the drug menace from society. He further appealed to the general public, especially the youth, to stay away from drugs and cooperate with the police by sharing any information related to drug trafficking, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
