| Kashmiri migrants express concern over delay in cash assistance, ration slips | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 9: Kashmiri Pandit migrants in Jammu are facing significant challenges, including delayed cash assistance and isuance of ration slips, interrupted water supply in Jagti colony. The JMWM has urged authorities to release the pending cash assistance for March and improve living conditions in the colony The Kashmiri Pandit migrants have expressed grave concern over delay in disbursement of cash assistance and interrupted water supply as people were facing a lots of hardships due to financial constraints. Taking a dig at authorities Jammu Migrants Welfare Movement (JMWM) Convener and social activist Sunil Pandita while addressing a meeting at Jagti colony, said that men at helms have been always against migrants interests for one reason or the other.Those who are dependent on cash assistance, how can they mitigate with their daily problems when their relief was not disbursed in time ,asked Sunil . Meanwhile, the community members also raised problem of interrupted drinking water Supply to the Jagti colony. They said the water supply to the camp has been improper since a long and despite spending over crores of rupees on this project no progress has been achieved so far,the members alleged. Sunil in an appeal has asked the authorities as why water supply to the Jagti colony is worst,contaminated and irregular whereas plenty of money has been spent on digging out borewells and lifting of water from Tawi projects however, on the ground it showed no progress till date at all.Those government officials of Relief and Rehabilitation Department who are responsible to facilitate migrants in a smooth way should be asked about their accountability and progress of their efforts they have been doing all along,Sunil maintained. The community's struggles are multifaceted, with concerns over inadequate infrastructure, poor sanitation, and insufficient public services. There's a pressing need for a comprehensive rehabilitation policy and sustained efforts to address these issues expressed the community members Those who attended and spoke in the meeting include Ashwani Bhat, TK Dhar, Sanjay Dhar and others. |
