Government will withdraw cases registered against members of the Tharu community: Chief Minister
4/11/2026 9:48:04 PM
Early Times Report
Lakhimpur Kheri, Apr 11: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday gave a major gift to the people of Lakhimpur Kheri. A day before the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Maharana Sanga, the Chief Minister said, "The governments of professional criminals, which nurtured mafia elements in every district, used to oppress the descendants of Maharana Pratap and Maharana Sanga and file false cases against them. The members of the Tharu community who had struggled and against whom cases were registered by the Samajwadi Party government, our government will withdraw all those cases. Now no one will be able to oppress you, because the double engine government stands with you and respects your struggle."
Along with this, the CM again warned that those who attempt to become mafia should also be prepared for the strict actions. The government will not allow any mafia to flourish, snatch the rights of the poor, or loot the jobs of the youth.
Chief Minister, during the program held at Chandan Chowki (Palia), distributed land ownership patta (record of rights) to 2350 families affected by river erosion in Eastern Uttar Pradesh and 4356 families of the Tharu tribe, and inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of 314 development projects worth ?817 crore in Palia, Srinagar, Nighasan and Gola Gokarnnath assembly constituencies.
CM also watched cultural performances by artists from the Tharu tribe and appreciated them for preserving their culture.
Chief Minister stated, "True governance is where the people are happy. The welfare of the government lies in the welfare of the people. The happiness of governance is not based on fulfilling personal ambitions, but on the happiness of the people. This is possible only when there is sensitivity in governance and it reaches the people through service. This program is also a historic journey from rights to self-reliance and from self-reliance to self-respect, because today along with rights, there is also a guarantee of self-respect and self-reliance. The people gave us authority, and we are giving them ownership documents."
CM also said, dependents of freedom fighters from Eastern Uttar Pradesh were settled here. Three generations of yours have passed, yet you never received your rights. The decades-long incomplete journey is now progressing through the rehabilitation program. When a bridge of trust is formed between the people and the government, that trust translates into rights on the ground. Chandan Chowki is the pride of this district.
CM added that here, the roots of tribal culture, self-respect and the fertility of the Terai region flourish together. Chandan Chowki and dozens of surrounding Tharu-dominated villages were once struggling for identity. Earlier, they were harassed by the forest, police and revenue departments. The Tharu community, which is associated with valour and bravery, earlier struggled for identity, but today it is receiving ownership documents, and this is the strength and speed of the double engine government.
