Early Times Report SAMBA, Apr 23: Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Government Degree College (GDC) Samba, in collaboration with the District Administration Samba, successfully organized an awareness programme on 23rd April, focusing on promoting a Nasha Mukt (drug-free) society and encouraging first-time voters to actively participate in the democratic process. The programme was conducted under the guidance and patronage of the worthy Principal of the college, whose continuous support and vision remain instrumental in organizing such meaningful initiatives. The event was graced by Mr. Rafiq Ahmed Jaral, JKAS, Assistant Commissioner Development, Samba, Mr. Ajay Bharti, JKAS, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Samba, Mr. Shashank Padha, BDO Sumb, and Mr. Saqib Sharief Khan, JKAS, BDO Samba, along with other distinguished guests. In his address, Mr. Jaral highlighted the urgent need to combat drug abuse among youth and emphasized the importance of adopting a healthy and disciplined lifestyle. He also sensitized students about the significance of the Right to Vote and their role in strengthening democracy. An important highlight of the event was the pledge-taking ceremony for a drug-free life, led by Rhythm Sambyal, where students actively participated and reaffirmed their commitment towards a healthier and drug-free future. In addition to awareness, the college facilitated on-the-spot Voter ID registration for eligible students, enabling them to enroll as responsible voters. A large number of students participated enthusiastically in the registration process. The event was successfully organized with the active involvement of faculty members, including Dr. Virendra Pal Singh and Dr. Kuldeep Singh, whose efforts were highly commendable. The proceedings of the programme were efficiently conducted by Assistant Professor Ritika, Convenor PRAVAAD ELC, who ensured the smooth and effective execution of the event. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Saqib Sharief Khan, JKAS, BDO Samba, who expressed gratitude to the guests, administration, faculty members, and students for their valuable contribution in making the event a grand success.
