R.N. Tagore Higher Secondary School organises educational trip

Jammu, May 12: R.N. Tagore Higher Secondary School, Sector-8, Nanak Nagar, Jammu, organised an educational trip for the students of Class 11th and 12th (Science Stream) to the Department of Physics, University of Jammu on the occasion of National Technology Day. The visit was organised with the objective of providing students practical exposure to modern scientific instruments, laboratory techniques, and research activities in the field of Physics.
The students were warmly welcomed by the Head of the Department, Prof. K.K. Bamzai, who interacted with the students and encouraged them to develop scientific temperament, innovative thinking, and research-oriented learning. He highlighted the importance of science and technology in nation-building and motivated students to pursue careers in scientific research and innovation.
During the educational visit, students explored various laboratories including the M.Sc. Laboratory and Research Laboratory of the department. The students observed and learned about several advanced scientific instruments and experimental setups such as X-Ray Crystallography, Ball Mill, Muffle Furnace, Centrifuge Machine, Distillation Plant, TGA apparatus, Optical Microscope, and SBAC system. They were also introduced to important Physics experiments including Newton Ring Method, Planck’s Constant Apparatus, and Diffraction Apparatus.
The visit proved to be highly informative and inspiring for the students as they gained practical knowledge about laboratory functioning, scientific experimentation, and modern research techniques. The students actively interacted with the faculty members and research scholars, who explained the working principles and applications of various instruments in academics and research.
The trip was conducted under the guidance of the Principal, Dr. Hitesh Mahajan, who appreciated the efforts of the Department of Physics, University of Jammu, for providing such an enriching learning experience to the students. He stated that educational visits play a significant role in bridging the gap between classroom learning and practical exposure.
The students were accompanied by teachers Ms. Jagdeep Kour, Mr. Kartik Sharma, and Mr. Sandeep Sharma, who ensured the smooth conduct of the visit and encouraged students to make the most of this valuable educational opportunity.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to the Department of Physics, University of Jammu, for their warm hospitality and valuable guidance to the budding scientists of the school.
