| Army foils LeT infiltration attempt in Poonch, one Pakistani terrorist killed | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 12: Security forces on Tuesday foiled an infiltration attempt by a group of terrorists belonging to the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district, killing one Pakistani intruder and forcing others to retreat to Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). According to official sources, the infiltrators were detected by alert troops of the White Knight Corps while attempting to sneak into Indian territory in the forward area of Krishna Ghati on Tuesday afternoon. The interception led to a brief exchange of fire, during which one terrorist was neutralised. The remaining members of the group fled back across the LoC. In a statement, the White Knight Corps said that suspicious movement was detected around 4 pm, approximately 300 metres inside Indian territory in the Krishna Ghati sector. “Acting on persistent surveillance, suspicious movement was detected approximately 300 metres inside own territory in the general area of Krishna Ghati Sector, Poonch, along the LoC at around 4 PM today. Alert troops of White Knight Corps swiftly responded and foiled the infiltration bid, ensuring no breach of the LoC. One intruder has been neutralised,” the Army said. The Corps added that troops continue to dominate the area and remain in a high state of operational readiness across the sector. Following the encounter, security forces launched extensive search and sanitisation operations in the area to rule out the presence of any other infiltrators. Security agencies have maintained a heightened state of alert along the LoC amid continued attempts by Pakistan-based terror groups to push militants into Jammu and Kashmir. |
