Apex Body of SPARSH, CLUJ organises awareness lecture on Posh

JAMMU, May 12: The Apex Body of SPARSH (ABS), Cluster University of Jammu, under the chairpersonship of Dr. Vandana Khajuria, and under the guidance of Prof. K. S. Chandrasekar. Honble Vice chancellor Cluster University of Jammu and with the support of Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal GGM Science College Jammu, organized an Awareness Lecture on the implementation of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013 and UGC Regulations, 2015. The programme was held in collaboration with Government Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College, Jammu, and the Sexual Harassment Probe Committee, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Jammu Wing and was aimed to promote gender sensitization, workplace dignity, and the creation of safe, inclusive, and respectful educational spaces.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Vandana Khajuria, who underscored the importance of awareness and sensitization initiatives in fostering a secure and supportive institutional environment. She emphasized that ensuring dignity, equality, and safety for all is a collective responsibility of educational institutions.
Later on Ms. Sonia Gupta delivered an insightful lecture on the legal and social dimensions of the POSH Act and workplace ethics. She elaborated on the rights and safeguards available under the Act and stressed the importance of maintaining harassment-free educational and professional environments. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Sunil Kumar highlighted the significance of legal awareness, institutional accountability, and timely grievance redressal mechanisms. He urged students and faculty members to remain informed about institutional policies and procedures.
