Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, May 16: Udhampur, DIG Udhampur- Reasi Range, visited the ongoing Moungri Mela and conducted a comprehensive review of the security arrangements put in place for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the event. During the visit, the officer inspected deployment points, interacted with police personnel on duty and emphasized the importance of maintaining high alertness, public safety and effective crowd management. DIG Udhampur Reasi range praised the civil administration, DC Udhampur Sh Minga Sherpa IAS Mela Officers Ayushi Sabharwal Jkas Tehsildar for elaborated arrangements and public facilitation in Moungri mela . DIG interacted with members of the mela committee and students, visited various stalls and witnessed the Kabaddi match & other cultural events organized during the mela. He appreciated the efforts of the organizers for the successful conduct of the event. The DIG also visited the SDRF camp, Police Stall set up for public awareness and assistance and Joint control room established for effective coordination and management. On the occasion, an awareness session was conducted under "Nasha Mukht Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan" to sensitize people, particularly the youth, about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the growing threat posed by narcotics in society. The officer stressed that drug abuse not only destroys individuals and families but also adversely impacts the social fabric and future of society. Seeking active public cooperation, the officer appealed to citizens to come forward with information regarding drug peddlers, smugglers, and any suspicious activities related to narcotics and illegal activities. People were urged to share information with the police without fear so that strict action can be taken against those involved in spreading the drug menace. The officer assured that the identity of informants would be kept confidential. The participants were encouraged to play an active role in creating a drug-free society by motivating youth to stay away from narcotics and by supporting the efforts of police and civil administration under the Nasha Mukht Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan. On the occasion, the officer also appreciated Ms. Arushi Sawarbal JKAS Tehsildar Moungri(Mela Officer) and presented a memento for excellent arrangement in the mela. The officer was accompanied by Sh.Kulbir Singh Chaudhary, Dy.SP CRPF and Ms.Reetu Sharma, Dy.SP (Prob) SHO P/S Panchari and other dignitaries were present on the occasion. |
