Early Times Report JAMMU, May 19: Senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha Nominated , Er Ghulam Ali Khatana today handed over developmental works worth ?50 lakh under the MPLADS scheme to the people of Panchayat Lower Sunjwan (Bathindi) and Malik Market of Satwari Block in Jammu district. During the visit, Er. Ghulam Ali Khatana laid foundation stones for several public welfare works including construction of tiles, drains, bathrooms, road connectivity and other essential infrastructure projects aimed at improving civic amenities for local residents. Khatana had just returned after concluding his three-day tour of Rajouri, Sunderbani and Poonch, where he addressed the "Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Maha Prashikshan Abhiyan" programmes at various locations. Addressing party workers, he stressed that every BJP worker is committed to the vision of Bharat's pride, prosperity and global leadership. He said the BJP remains dedicated to working for the welfare of the "last person in the queue," in line with the ideology of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay. Highlighting the achievements of the Modi-led government, Khatana said that Jammu & Kashmir has witnessed a major transformation, with youth moving away from stone pelting, shutdowns and violence towards education, sports, entrepreneurship and startups. He stated that the Modi government has created an atmosphere of peace, opportunity and development across the Union Territory. Khatana further remarked that only the governments led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Prime Minister Morarji Desai conducted truly free and fair elections in Jammu & Kashmir during the past seven decades. He alleged that the Congress and National Conference governments misled innocent people of Jammu & Kashmir through slogans such as plebiscite, autonomy, self-rule and "sky is the limit," which, he said, created confusion and alienation among the masses. Speaking during the training sessions, Khatana also alleged that the rigging of the 1987 elections by the Congress and National Conference led to distrust in democracy and eventually contributed to militancy and bloodshed in the region for nearly three decades. He further stated that after the abrogation of Article 370, Jammu & Kashmir has witnessed transformation at multiple levels, including rail connectivity, tourism, infrastructure development and strengthening of grassroots democracy under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Meanwhile, Khatana also paid a sudden visit to SMGS Hospital Shalamar and took first-hand feedback from patients regarding treatment facilities and healthcare services. He instructed the administration and doctors to maintain cleanliness and appreciated frontline healthcare workers for their dedication and commitment towards serving society. He also enquired about the preservation and restoration of the historic centuries-old hospital building alongside ongoing expansion and repair works. |
