KATHUA, June 1: Continuing its efforts against drug menace, J&K Police Kathua under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma IPS recovered/ seized approx 5 grams of Heroin (Chitta) like narcotics at Bhini Bridge, PS Billawar, 1 notorious drug peddler arrested.
On 31-05-2026, acting on the intelligent input received through a reliable source, a Police team led by SHO PS Billawar under the supervision of SP Ops. Upper Kathua & SDPO Billawar laid down a special naka/ checking at Bhini Bridge area and apprehended one person namely 1. Sandeep Sharma S/o Sat Paul R/o Banhore Tehsil & District Kathua who was enrouted under suspicious circumstances. During Checking approx 5 Grams Heroin like substance recovered from his possession. The recovered contraband was seized and accused person was taken into police custody on spot. In this regard a case FIR No. 103/2026 U/S 8/21/22// NDPS Act has been registered at PS Billawar. Further investigation is underway to unearth the forward and backward linkages involved in the supply chain of drugs in the area.
Moreover, it is pertinent to mention here that the said accused has been involved in 03 NDPS Act Cases registered at different Police Stations of Kathua District.
