Early Times Report YOL (HIMACHAL PRADESH), June 9: On the 59th day of the ongoing 78-day Yajna dedicated to the study and recitation of all four Vedas at Veda Mandir, Yol, Himachal Pradesh, Swami Ram Swarup Ji, Yogacharya, delivered a spiritual discourse based on Atharvaveda Mantra 9/10/15, enlightening devotees about the path of self-realisation, divine knowledge, and liberation. Explaining the mantra, Swami Ji said that Almighty God has already bestowed divine knowledge upon humanity in the form of the four Vedas. Therefore, the foremost duty of every man and woman is to approach learned Vedic scholars, acquire the knowledge revealed by God through the Vedas, destroy their sins through righteous conduct, and ultimately attain liberation (Moksha). Referring to the mantra, Swami Ji explained that God, through the voice of a sincere seeker, conveys a profound spiritual truth. The seeker prays, "Yadi Va Asmi Na Vijanami"-"O Lord, I do not know who I truly am or what my real nature is." The seeker admits that his true identity remains concealed beneath the veil of Maya, manifested in the form of desires, anger, pride, greed, and other worldly attachments. Swami Ji elaborated that while the soul resides within the body as a conscious and eternal entity, it becomes entangled in the numerous defects and impurities born of Prakriti (material nature). As a result, the soul becomes attracted to external objects perceived through the senses and gradually forgets its own true nature as a conscious spiritual being. This ignorance leads the individual into the endless cycle of birth, death, and suffering. Further explaining the mantra, Swami Ji said that the seeker acknowledges how the mind has bound the soul within the illusion of Maya. He prays that if, by the grace of God, he could receive the same divine Vedic knowledge that was revealed in the hearts of the ancient Rishis at the beginning of creation, then he would attain self-knowledge and realize God. Urging devotees to become spiritually wise, Swami Ji emphasized the importance of participating in Vedic satsangs and studying the Vedas under the guidance of learned scholars. He stated that God has prescribed only one path for crossing the ocean of worldly sorrows and attaining true happiness-the path of following Vedic wisdom. All other practices contrary to Vedic teachings have been described in the Vedas as forms of Maya, which continue to keep living beings trapped in suffering. Concluding his discourse, Swami Ram Swarup Ji called upon all seekers to return to the shelter of the God-revealed Vedas, just as people did in earlier ages, and follow the divine guidance explained in the Atharvavedic mantra for attaining spiritual enlightenment and everlasting peace. |
