ANANTNAG, June 15: Social Welfare Department, Anantnag, in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) and J&K Bank, today organised a one-day Prosthetic Aid distribution camp at Bondialgam. The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, presided over the function as the Chief Guest. The event was also attended by DSWO, TSWO, Zonal Head of J&K Bank, representatives from ALIMCO, and field officials from Social Welfare Department, among others. Speaking on the occasion, the DDC reiterated that the district administration is committed to the holistic empowerment of Specially Abled Persons (SAPs). He noted that while significant progress has been made regarding SAPs affected by physical or mobility-related disorders, there must be an equal focus on rehabilitating those suffering from neurological or developmental conditions. Dr. Bilal asked the Social Welfare Department to explore sustainable initiatives dedicated to the overall betterment of SAPs especially individuals affected by CNS or developmental disorders such as Autism and Cerebral Palsy, assuring full administrative and financial support. The DDC also laid strong emphasis on the education and self-employment of SAPs as enshrined under the PwD Act, underlining that they are an integral part of society. He stressed that the administration’s ultimate goal is to ensure inclusive development and empowerment of the needy sections of the community. During the camp, quality prosthetic aids and assistive devices provided by ALIMCO were distributed among pre-identified beneficiaries to help enhance their daily mobility and independence. Notably, a total of 649 Divyangjans (PwDs) were pre identified with 1124 number of Aids and Assistive Devices through an extensive assessment and registration exercise conducted in the month of July 2025. The Social Welfare Department has scheduled a series of such camps for distributing assistive aids and appliances including MTCs, Tricycles, Wheel Chairs, Wheelchair with Commode, Walking Sticks, Crutches, Hearing Aids Braile Slates, Smart Phones, Sugamya Canes, Kits for Visually Impaired, Rollators, CP Chairs, Walkers, Knee Braces, LS Belts, Cushions, TLM Kits, Artificial Limbs and Callipers, to Divyangjans under CSR programme of J&K Bank. |
