Bishnah, June 21: Government Degree College Bishnah, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS), 8 J&K Girls Battalion NCC, Jammu, and the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA), celebrated International Yoga Day 2026 at the College Campus under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” Dr. Rajeev Bhagat, Hon’ble MLA, Bishnah, graced the occasion as the Special Guest. He appreciated the College for organizing an event that promoted physical fitness, mental well-being, discipline, and a healthy lifestyle among youth. The yoga session was conducted by Dr. Rama Sharma, Prant Saha Sachiv, Arogya Bharati Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh; Social Worker; and Kishore, Kishori Swasthya Prant Pramukh. Ms. Pinki, Yoga Instructor associated with Arogya Bharati Jammu and Kashmir, and Shri Jagmohan Ji, Yoga Instructor associated with Arogya Bharati Jammu and Kashmir, also guided the participants through various yogic asanas, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques. A large number of NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, students, staff members, and personnel of J&K Police, Bishnah, participated enthusiastically in the event. Prof. Shrotika Rajput, Head, Department of Political Science and senior faculty members, also graced the occasion and encouraged the participants. The programme was organized under the guidance of Dr. Shallu Samyal, Principal, Government Degree College Bishnah. Dr. Geeta Lakhotra, Programme Officer, NSS; Dr. Kusum, CTO, 8 J&K Girls Battalion NCC, Jammu; Dr. Koushal Kiran Thacker, Convener, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA); coordinated and successfully organized the event. The Principal appreciated the active participation of all stakeholders and encouraged everyone to adopt yoga as an integral part of their daily routine. The programme concluded with a pledge to promote a healthy, disciplined, drug-free, and responsible society. |
