6/22/2026 10:34:37 PM
Nikhil Mehra

Drug abuse is one of the biggest problems facing society today. It refers to the harmful use of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and other addictive substances. Many people, especially teenagers and young adults, become involved in drug abuse due to curiosity, peer pressure, stress, or bad company/Society.
At first, drugs may seem to provide pleasure or relief from problems. However, regular use can lead to addiction, making it very difficult for a person to stop. Once addicted, a person may lose control over their behavior and depend on drugs to feel normal.
Drug abuse has many harmful effects on both physical and mental health. It can damage important organs such as the brain, heart, liver, and lungs. It can also cause depression, anxiety, memory loss, and other mental health issues. People who abuse drugs often face difficulties in school, work, and personal relationships.
The effects of drug abuse are not limited to individuals. Families suffer from emotional pain and financial problems. Society is also affected through increased crime, violence, road accidents, and healthcare costs.
Preventing drug abuse requires awareness and education. Parents, teachers, and community leaders should guide young people and teach them about the dangers of drugs. Healthy activities such as sports, reading, and hobbies can help keep young people away from harmful habits.
In conclusion, drug abuse is a serious threat to individuals and society. By spreading awareness, providing support, and making healthy choices, we can reduce drug abuse and build a safer, healthier, and happier future for everyone.
