Dr. Deepak Byotra’s Dogri Book Apni Gal released

Katra, July 3: In a proud moment for the promotion of regional literature and culture, the Dogri book Apni Gal, authored by Dr. Deepak Byotra of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), was formally released today at the University campus.The book was unveiled by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Pragati Kumar, in the presence of Sh. Ajay Kumar (JKAS), Registrar; Prof. Sumit Gupta, Faculty I/C Examinations; Mr. Rahul Gupta, PS to the Vice Chancellor; and Mr. Joginder Sharma, Public Relations Officer (PRO).
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Pragati Kumar congratulated Dr. Byotra on his literary contribution and appreciated his efforts in promoting the rich Dogri language and culture alongside his academic pursuits in engineering.
Dr. Deepak Byotra shared that Apni Gal is a collection of thoughts and poetic expressions reflecting the emotions, values, and everyday experiences of society through the medium of Dogri. He expressed gratitude to the University administration for its encouragement and support towards literary and cultural activities.Adding a special touch to the event, Dr. Byotra recited a few couplets from Apni Gal in Dogri, which were warmly appreciated for their simplicity, emotional depth, and connection with the local culture.
The dignitaries present congratulated Dr. Byotra on the publication and wished him continued success in his literary journey. The release of Apni Gal reflects SMVDU’s commitment to fostering excellence not only in technical education and research but also in the promotion of regional languages, literature, and cultural heritage.
The programme concluded with an interactive discussion on the significance of preserving indigenous languages and encouraging literary creativity among academicians and students.
