New Delhi, July 3: The Indian Army successfully concluded its participation in the Multilateral Joint Military Exercise Khaan Quest 2026, conducted from 20 June to 03 July 2026 at the Five Hills Training Area, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The exercise witnessed active participation of over 1,000 troops from 18 nations and provided a global platform to train together, strengthen interoperability and enhance operational readiness in peace support operations under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter.
This year marked the 23rd edition of the exercise, which began as a bilateral event between the USA and Mongolia in 2003 and evolved into a multilateral training platform for United Nations peacekeeping operations in 2006. The exercise featured both Command Post and Field Training components focused on reinforcing UN standards, improving mutual understanding and enhancing coordination among participating contingents.
During the exercise, the Indian Army contingent displayed high standards of professionalism, discipline and operational preparedness while undertaking a wide range of joint training activities and simulation-based scenarios. The contingent also showcased India’s rich and diverse cultural heritage during a vibrant cultural display, highlighting India’s enduring belief in Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: The World is One Family.
The closing ceremony was attended by Maj Gen Baasandamba Dashtseden, Deputy Minister of Defence, Mongolia and Lt Gen Ganbyamba Sunrev, Chief of General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces, who lauded the spirit, dedication and professionalism displayed by all participating contingents.
On conclusion of Exercise Khaan Quest 2026, the Indian Army conveyed its sincere appreciation to the Government of Mongolia and the Mongolian Armed Forces for the successful conduct of the multilateral exercise. The experience gained will significantly contribute towards enhancing joint operational effectiveness, promoting interoperability and strengthening bonds of friendship among participating nations.
