Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 6: Mohammad Younis Malik (JKAS), Director JKEDI, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting at the Sempora campus of the Institute to assess the progress of various entrepreneurship development and youth engagement initiatives being implemented across the Union Territory. The meeting was attended by Range Officers (ROs), District Nodal Officers (DNOs), and other officials, both physically and through virtual mode, from different districts of Jammu & Kashmir. During the meeting, Shri Chand Kishor Sharma (JKAS), Joint Director JKEDI, presented a detailed overview of the various programmes and initiatives being implemented by the Institute, along with the achievements registered under different programmes. The Director also reviewed the progress of preparations for the upcoming Ascend J&K-2026: Startup Ecosystem Summit, scheduled to be held in the second week of July 2026. He directed the officers and officials to ensure close coordination and liaison with all concerned stakeholders, including registered startups, to facilitate the smooth and successful conduct of the event. He stressed the importance of meticulous planning and timely execution of all arrangements to make the summit a landmark initiative for promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the Union Territory. The summit will feature a series of activities, including startup pitching sessions, brainstorming discussions, networking opportunities, and exhibitions showcasing innovative products and business ideas. A thorough review of key government initiatives, including the J&K Start-up Policy 2024-27, Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Scheme and various òther programmes, was undertaken during the session. Addressing the officers, the Director emphasized the need to intensify efforts towards achieving JKEDI's core objective of empowering youth through entrepreneurship awareness, orientation, and capacity building. He called upon the District Nodal Officers to further strengthen grassroots outreach and ensure greater mobilisation of aspiring entrepreneurs from all regions of the Union Territory to foster a vibrant and inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem. The Director also advised the District Nodal Officers to conduct Entrepreneurship Awareness Programmes (EAPs) in close alignment with allied departments to help entrepreneurs effectively address real-time business challenges and sector-specific issues.. He further said that the institute is in process of establishing smart classrooms and district incubation centres at district level that will help improve the training infrastructure of the institute. He further urged all officers and employees of the Institute to work in close coordination and with renewed commitment towards realizing JKEDI's vision of creating a self-reliant, innovative, and enterprising youth population in Jammu & Kashmir. |
