Early Times Report REASI, July 6: In continuation of its sustained campaign against drug abuse and narcotics trafficking under the 'Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan', District Police Reasi achieved another success by apprehending a drug peddler and recovering narcotic substance from his possession. On 04.07.2026, a police party of Police Station Katra, while performing routine patrolling and naka checking duty near Tulip Tree Hotel, New Bus Stand, Katra, intercepted a blue-coloured electric auto-rickshaw bearing Registration No. JK20D-2070. On noticing the police party, the driver attempted to flee from the spoth but was swiftly apprehended by the alert police personnel. During the search, 91.1 grams of Ganja along with Rs 9,800, suspected to be proceeds from drug trafficking, was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Ganesh Sharma, S/o Chuni Lal, R/o Kotli Bajalian, Katra. In this regard, FIR No. 221/2026 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and forward linkages of the recovered contraband. District Police Reasi reiterates its firm commitment to making the district drug-free under the 'Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan' and appeals to the public to actively support the campaign by sharing information about drug-related activities with the nearest police establishment. |
