DAJ convenes review meeting on rainfed area development programme under HADP

JAMMU, July 25: Director Agriculture Jammu and PGMC Chairman of HADP Project P-15 "Rainfed Area Development Programme", Anil Gupta, today convened a review meeting at the Conference Hall, Directorate of Agriculture, Jammu, to assess the implementation status of the project and deliberate on the bottlenecks affecting the timely execution of various activities under the Five-Year Action Plan.
The meeting focused on reviewing the physical and financial progress achieved under Project P-15 and identifying measures to accelerate implementation in line with the project objectives. Anil Gupta stressed the importance of close inter-departmental coordination, timely execution of approved interventions, and effective monitoring to ensure that the intended benefits reach the farming community, particularly in rainfed areas. He directed the concerned departments to address implementation challenges on priority and adhere to the prescribed timelines.
The meeting was attended by Director Horticulture Jammu, Gul Sayed, senior and technical officers from the Agriculture and allied departments of Jammu, Project Investigator (PI) of P-15, SKUAST-Jammu, and Dr. Veer Abhimanyu Koul, Technical Officer, Agriculture Production Department (APD). Director Agriculture Kashmir, Director Animal Husbandry Jammu/Kashmir, Director Sheep Husbandry Jammu/Kashmir, Director Horticulture Kashmir, and senior officers from the Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry and Horticulture Departments of Kashmir participated in the meeting through virtual mode. The participants reviewed the progress of ongoing activities and shared suggestions for strengthening coordination and expediting project implementation.
Speaking on the occasion, Anil Gupta reiterated that the Rainfed Area Development Programme under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) is a key initiative aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity, promoting climate-resilient farming practices, and improving the livelihoods of farmers in rainfed regions. He called upon all stakeholder departments to work in close coordination to achieve the project milestones within the stipulated timeframe.
Anil Gupta also emphasized the need for expeditious disposal of all eligible applications received through the Kisan Sathi Portal, directing the implementing agencies to ensure that the verification and approval process is completed without delay so that the benefits under the project reach the eligible beneficiaries at the earliest.
