MAHORE, July 25: Continuing its sustained crackdown on terrorism and anti-national activities, Reasi Police today executed a proclamation under Section 84 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) against wanted terrorist Mohd. Qasim @ Salman, son of Mohd. Shafi, resident of Angralla, Mahore, in compliance with the orders of the Hon'ble 3rd Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu, Designated Court under the NIA Act.
The proclamation pertains to FIR No. 115/2022 of Police Station Mahore, registered under Sections 13, 17, 18, 20, 38 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The accused is a wanted cross-border terror handler who is involved in multiple UAPA cases, including the 2022-23 Katra and Narwal blast cases, and is believed to have illegally crossed over to Pakistan. The action reflects the relentless resolve of Jammu & Kashmir Police to bring to justice those operating from across the border and orchestrating terror activities in the Union Territory.
A police team led by SDPO Mahore, Ms. Parul Bhardwaj, JKPS, in the presence of local representatives of Angralla village, visited the residence of the accused and executed the proclamation in accordance with law by publicly reading out the Hon'ble Court's order and informing his family members as well as local residents about the directions issued by the Court.
As per the proclamation issued under Section 84 of the BNSS, the accused has been directed to appear before the Hon'ble Designated Court on or before 21 August 2026. Failure to comply with the Court's directions within the stipulated period shall invite further legal proceedings under Section 85 of the BNSS, as per law.
Reasi Police reiterated its unwavering commitment to taking stringent action against terrorists, anti-national elements and absconding accused. The general public has been appealed to cooperate with the police by sharing any credible information regarding the whereabouts of the accused with the nearest police station. |
