| BRO restores road connectivity in Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi amid heavy rains and landslides | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 25: In the wake of incessant rainfall that triggered multiple landslides across the border districts of Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), under Project Sampark, launched a swift and coordinated response to restore disrupted road connectivity and ensure uninterrupted movement of security forces and essential services.
The heavy downpour during 19 - 24 July 2026 led to numerous landslides at several locations, blocking key roads and affecting normal movement in the region. Demonstrating exceptional commitment and operational readiness, BRO immediately mobilised its men, heavy machinery and equipment to undertake round-the-clock road clearance operations despite adverse weather conditions and challenging terrain.
The heavy downpour resulted in landslides on important roads to include Rajouri - Poonch NH 144 A. The teams immediately moved to site and cleared landslide to ensure movement of critical resources, essential services, army vehs and local populace. The roads leading from Reasi to Mahore and Rajouri to Budhal and further to Mahore and Gul experienced many landslides. One diversion created at Badora nallah was also washed away in heavy flow of water. The monsoon preparedness ensured quick deployment of resources at already identified critical locations. The various arteries in forward locations were also immediately restored to ensure timely movement of security forces. At Baodra nallah, based on past experience a 200 feet Bailey Bridge has already been launched allowing smooth movement of traffic thereby, devoiding cutting off the areas of Mahore from Rajouri and Budhal.
The unrelenting rains caused heavy damage to road infrastructure and equipment deployed by the teams of contractors working on Rajouri - Thanamandi road and NH 144 site location in Poonch and other locations. Overcoming the issue, the teams stood resolved in ensuring road connectivity.
Working tirelessly under hazardous conditions, BRO teams successfully removed debris, stabilised vulnerable stretches and restored traffic on the affected routes in the shortest possible time. Their prompt action ensured that critical road links remained operational, facilitating the movement of security forces, emergency responders and essential supplies to the affected areas.
The timely restoration of connectivity once again underscores the Border Roads Organisation's unwavering dedication to maintaining strategic infrastructure in remote and border areas. The organisation continues to play a pivotal role in ensuring all-weather connectivity, enhancing operational preparedness and providing critical support during natural disasters and emergencies.
While the essential connectivity on all roads have been restored, however the teams remain deployed to repair the damages caused to road infrastructure and ensure seamless movement of traffic and provide maximum succor to populace.
