Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 31: Continuing the momentum of infrastructure development across Jammu North Assembly Constituency, MLA Jammu North Sham Lal Sharma today commenced the Keran/Bantalab Nallah Restoration Project in Ward No. 65, Gurha Brahmana under the SASCI Scheme. The project, being executed by the Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED) at an estimated cost of ?2.90 crore, aims to restore and strengthen the drainage infrastructure through comprehensive restoration of the Keran/Bantalab Nallah. The initiative is designed to improve storm-water management, mitigate waterlogging and enhance public safety during the monsoon season.
The restoration project will significantly strengthen the drainage network by ensuring the smooth flow of rainwater, reducing the risk of flooding during heavy rainfall and improving overall sanitation in the area. Besides addressing a long-pending civic requirement, the project will create durable public infrastructure, enhance environmental cleanliness and provide lasting relief to residents from recurring drainage-related problems.
On the occasion, Sham Lal Sharma expressed his gratitude to the Government of India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, for providing dedicated financial assistance to Jammu and Kashmir under the SASCI Scheme for the restoration of infrastructure damaged due to floods and other natural calamities. He said that the Centre's continued support has enabled the execution of critical restoration and flood protection works, strengthening public infrastructure and enhancing disaster resilience across the Union Territory. He further directed the executing agency to complete the project in a time-bound manner while maintaining the highest standards of quality and technical specifications. Emphasizing that the monsoon season is already underway, he instructed the concerned officers to adopt all necessary precautionary measures during execution to ensure the uninterrupted flow of rainwater, minimize inconvenience to the public and expedite the completion of the work. He stressed that every rupee sanctioned under the SASCI Scheme must be utilized transparently and efficiently to create durable public assets that provide long-term benefits to the people.
Reaffirming his commitment to the holistic development of Jammu North, Sham Lal Sharma said that the vision of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas aur Sabka Prayas" continues to guide every developmental initiative in the constituency. He emphasized that strengthening basic civic infrastructure remains a top priority and assured that development works would continue to be implemented with transparency, accountability and quality workmanship to ensure sustainable development and improved public amenities across Jammu North.
The programme was attended by Shakti Kendra Pramukh Shri Parshotam Sharma; Shri Vijay Sharma; Booth Presidents, Executive Engineer, UEED, Shri Ashwani Khajuria, besides departmental officers, party functionaries, distinguished citizens and local residents. The gathering welcomed the commencement of the restoration project and expressed confidence that it would provide a lasting solution to drainage-related issues while significantly strengthening the civic infrastructure and improving the quality of life in Jammu North Assembly Constituency.
