Pakistani drone intrusion in Khour sector foiled

Jammu, July 31: The Indian Army on Friday thwarted a suspected cross-border surveillance attempt by shooting down a Pakistani spy drone along the Line of Control (LoC) in the strategically important Khour sector of Jammu district.
According to security sources, the suspected surveillance drone was detected in the early hours of Friday while attempting to intrude into Indian territory from the Mandiala (Chhamb) area across the border. The drone was spotted flying at a low altitude near the Chakla forward area in the Khour sector, triggering an immediate response from troops deployed along the LoC.
Maintaining a high level of vigilance, Army personnel tracked the drone’s movement before engaging it with precise fire, bringing it down inside Indian territory. Following the operation, security forces immediately cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to recover the wreckage.
During the search, troops recovered the drone along with a 64 GB memory card and batteries, which have been seized for detailed examination. Preliminary inspection reportedly reveale

Following the incident, security has been further intensified across the Khour sector, with surveillance along the Line of Control significantly enhanced.

Security agencies suspect the drone was being used for reconnaissance of Indian Army deployments and forward posts in the sensitive border sector. The recovered memory card and other electronic components are expected to provide crucial leads regarding the drone’s launch point, flight path and intended mission.

Following the incident, security has been further intensified across the Khour sector, with surveillance along the Line of Control significantly enhanced to detect and neutralise any future drone intrusions or infiltration attempts.
The latest incident comes amid continued attempts by Pakistan-based elements to use drones for surveillance, smuggling and other hostile activities along the Jammu frontier, prompting security forces to maintain heightened vigilance along the border.
