| FDA continues enforcement drive against food safety violations | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 5: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Jammu & Kashmir, conducted inspection and sampling drive across the Union Territory to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. During the drive, 175 inspections were conducted across the districts of J&K. A total of 142 food samples were collected including 88 samples of prepared food, particularly meat and meat products served in restaurants and hotels, and 54 samples of sweets collected from sweet manufacturing units and retail sale outlets for testing of quality and safety parameters. The inspection teams also verified compliance with food safety, hygiene, sanitation and storage requirements at the inspected establishments. Consumers are being requested to report suspected cases of unsafe or adulterated food through Toll-Free Helpline No. 104 or by email at [email protected]. |
