Dream Big
8/20/2026 9:59:58 PM
While addressing residents of Karol Krishna, a border village in Kathua district, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha called upon the young generation of frontier villages to dream big like people in metro cities. He assured them that the government will provide all the possible support to them.
LG Sinha during his speech noted that for decades, the word “border” carried a sense of distance and border villages were far from the priorities of governance. However, under the leadership of PM Modi, border villages have been brought into the mainstream of development.
The LG’s call to the young generation of frontier villages to “dream big” like the youth of metropolitan cities is both inspiring and significant. It challenges the notion that ambition must be limited by geography. A young person growing up in a border village should have the same right to aspire to become a doctor, engineer, entrepreneur, civil servant, sportsperson or technology professional as someone growing up in Delhi, Mumbai or Bengaluru.
LG also rightly highlighted a broader transformation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi: the effort to bring border villages into the mainstream of development. This represents an important shift in the philosophy of governance. Frontier communities should not be viewed merely through the lens of security. They are vibrant communities whose residents contribute to the social and economic life of the nation while living in uniquely challenging circumstances.
Indeed, development in border areas has a strategic dimension as well. When villages have good infrastructure, educational opportunities, economic activity and a confident younger population, they become stronger and more resilient communities. National security and human development, therefore, should not be treated as competing priorities. In frontier regions, they reinforce each other.
The challenge now is to ensure that the promise of inclusion becomes a sustained reality. Frontier villages must receive consistent investment, transparent implementation and opportunities that endure beyond individual schemes or political cycles.
Karol Krishna’s youth should indeed dream big. The distance between a border village and a metropolitan city should remain a matter of geography—not a measure of opportunity. If governance can bridge that gap, the transformation of frontier villages will become not just a development achievement, but a powerful statement of national inclusion.
