Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 22: The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) against sexual harassment of GDC Purmandal organised a seminar on the theme "Break the Silence: Awareness and Prevention of Sexual Harassment". The seminar aimed to create awareness among students about sexual harassment, its prevention, and the importance of speaking up against inappropriate behaviour. A total of 10 students participated in the seminar. The session highlighted the importance of maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment within the college. Students were encouraged to understand their rights, recognise instances of harassment, and report any such incidents without fear or hesitation. The Coordinator of the Internal Complaints Committee Prof. Shahima Akhter addressed the participants and emphasised the importance of awareness, mutual respect, and zero tolerance towards sexual harassment. She also encouraged students to break the silence and seek appropriate support whenever required. Speaking on the occasion, Worthy Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Indu Khajuria stressed the institution's commitment to providing a safe and dignified environment for all students. The Principal urged students to remain aware, responsible, and supportive of one another in preventing sexual harassment. All teaching and non-teaching staff of the college actively participated in the programme. |
