| Govt adding to people's miseries instead of addressing grievances: Altaf Bukhari | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 22: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Saturday said that the elected "government appears hell-bent on adding to the miseries of the people rather than addressing their issues and grievances." He said that the "Apni Party stands firmly with the people and will not allow the government to take any step that further burdens them, including any hike in the power tariff." "We will continue to raise pressing public issues and leave no stone unturned to ensure that these concerns are properly addressed. We will not allow the implementation of any decision that further burdens the people, including a hike in the power tariff. We will oppose any such move tooth and nail, even if we have to take to the streets to fight against it," Mr. Bukhari warned. He made these remarks today while responding to questions from reporters on the sidelines of a party event. The event was organised to felicitate Haji Mohammad Syed Akhoon, who was recently appointed as the party's Vice President after the veteran leader joined the Apni Party. While addressing the felicitation event, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari reiterated his greetings to Mohammad Syed Akhoon on joining the Apni Party. He said that veterans of his stature do not join a political party merely as individuals, but come with a wealth of experience and knowledge. "I am sure that his vast experience will greatly benefit the party and strengthen its efforts to serve the people." He further said, "In the Apni Party, we do not judge our leaders and workers by the positions they hold within the party; rather, we treat everyone equally. We have created this platform with the sole objective of serving the people. This party neither belongs to any particular family nor to any individual. It is the people's party, committed to empowering them and working for their welfare." "We are committed to ensuring a future where our youth are given their rightful opportunities, including access to employment, so that they can build their lives with dignity and self-respect," he added. Responding to a question regarding the recent tragedy in Kishtwar, where a minor girl, who was allegedly impregnated by a teacher, died while being taken to hospital, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said: "It is a deeply painful and shocking tragedy. I wonder what has happened to our society. This place was once known as 'Peer Waer', but sadly, we are rapidly losing our moral values." |
