| Third Vande Bharat to further strengthen rail connectivity in J&K: Balbir | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 22: Jammu & Kashmir BJP spokesperson and former Vice Chairman Balbir Ram Rattan welcomed the approval of a third Vande Bharat Express between Jammu Tawi and Srinagar via Udhampur, describing it as another important step towards strengthening modern rail connectivity and providing better travel facilities to the people of Jammu & Kashmir. Balbir said the proposed Vande Bharat service, which will operate between Jammu Tawi and Srinagar with a halt at Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Udhampur station, will add further capacity to the Jammu-Srinagar rail corridor. He said the decision is particularly significant at a time when the existing Vande Bharat services are witnessing strong passenger demand. He said the service will provide more options to residents, tourists, pilgrims, students, employees and business travellers. Better availability of seats and more convenient travel will make movement between the Jammu region and Kashmir Valley easier and more comfortable. Balbir particularly welcomed the inclusion of Udhampur in the route, saying that it will further enhance the importance of the district as an important railway station on the Jammu-Kashmir corridor. He said improved connectivity can also contribute to tourism, local business activity and wider economic opportunities. He said the development reflects the transformation taking place in Jammu & Kashmir’s railway infrastructure. The completion of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link has opened a new chapter in the region’s connectivity, while landmark engineering achievements such as the Chenab Rail Bridge and major railway tunnels have added to the significance of the network. Balbir said that the Vande Bharat trains represent modern, faster and more comfortable rail travel and their expanding presence in Jammu & Kashmir will benefit both local passengers and visitors. He added that better rail connectivity is especially important for tourism, pilgrimage and economic activity, as it makes travel more accessible and efficient. |
