| N.F Railway strengthens safety measures for safer train journeys | | | Early Times Report
Maligaon, Aug 22: N.F. Railway remains committed to ensuring enhanced safety, comfort and convenience for passengers throughout their journey. In line with Indian Railways’ ongoing modernization initiatives, the zone has successfully completed the conversion of all long-distance passenger trains operating over N.F. Railway from conventional ICF coaches to modern Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches. With the completion of this conversion, a total of 103 long-distance passenger train services comprising 55 services belonging to N.F. Railway and 48 services of other railway zones are now operating with LHB coaches. This achievement makes N.F. Railway fully LHB-compliant for its long-distance train services. The transition to LHB coaches marks a significant milestone towards enhancing passenger safety, improving travel comfort and strengthening operational efficiency, in line with Indian Railways’ commitment to providing safer and more modern rail services. These advanced LHB coaches come equipped with cutting-edge safety features such as Fire and Smoke Detection System (FSDS), Fire Detection and Suppression System (FDSS) and Aerosol-based Fire Detection Systems, ensuring enhanced passenger security. A total of 1226 LHB AC coaches have been fitted with FSDS, while 155 power cars and 79 pantry cars are equipped with FDSS. Additionally, 3436 AC coaches have been provided with Aerosol-based Fire Detection Systems. These fire detection systems continuously monitor critical areas within train coaches to identify any potential fire incidents and promptly raise alarms for timely intervention. Early and accurate detection not only helps prevent panic and injuries but also minimizes loss of life and property, reducing disruptions to train services. To further strengthen fire safety, all power cars, pantry cars and AC coaches are being equipped with appropriate fire protection systems in a phased manner. Improving rail safety is an ongoing process and continuous efforts are made to enhance it. In addition to conducting regular safety drives, periodic Safety Audits and inspections are carried out on railway infrastructure to identify vulnerabilities in asset maintenance, safety procedures and systemic gaps. These assessments help in implementing effective measures to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure safer train operations. N. F. Railway remains deeply committed to ensuring the highest levels of safety across its network. |
