Early Times Report NEW DELHI, Aug 23: Pinegrove School hosted the Grand Finale of the 9th Mohinder Memorial Bilingual Turncoat Debate on 22nd August 2026, featuring 16 finalists shortlisted from 40 participants representing 20 reputed schools across India. Debating the motion, "THBT India's Future Depends More on Institutional Reforms Than Economic Reforms, the young speakers impressed with their bilingual fluency, incisive arguments, compelling rebuttals and confident delivery. Ms. Naina Dhillon, Principal, Vidya Devi Jindal School, Hisar, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and urged students to persevere, remain humble and value every opportunity. Pinegrove School emerged victorious, with Welham Girls' School, Dehradun securing 1st Runners-up and The Sunbeam English School, Bhagwanpur 2nd Runners-up. Aastik Thakur (Pinegrove School) emerged as the Best Speaker, followed by Cdt. Ajay Singh (RIMC, Dehradun) and Dhairya Sukhwani (The Lawrence School, Sanawar). Consolation prizes went to Dhruvi Garg (YPS, Patiala), Simrath (Pinegrove School), Agatha Chaudhary and Aarya Sharma (Welham Girls' School, Dehradun), Vrinda Pandey (Sunbeam English School, Bhagwanpur), Cdt. Arya Singh (RIMC, Dehradun), Mehraab Sandhu (Pinegrove School) and Hetal Anand (Birla School, Pilani). A soulful blindfolded patriotic dance by the young Grovians added a memorable touch to the grand finale. |
