Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 23: In response to the heavy rainfall experienced across Jammu city today in early morning hours on 23/08/2026, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) promptly mobilized men and machinery, including Quick Response Teams (QRTs), to address waterlogging issues in several affected areas. Areas including Rajinder Nagar, Muthi, Patta Bohri, Lakhdata Bazar and Bantalab witnessed water accumulation due to intense rainfall. Notably, in Rajinder Nagar & Patta Bohri , where ongoing Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED) works are in progress, temporary storage of construction material in the vicinity contributed to waterlogging. Upon receipt of public complaints, JMC teams acted swiftly and successfully cleared the waterlogging within one hour, restoring normal conditions. These nallah construction works under floods SSASCI will be completed in coming few months, resulting in permanent redressal of drainage issues. At the location near Pawan Ice Cream, JMC teams worked in close coordination with NHIDCL officials. It was observed that on this NHIDCL site a side drain in the area was blocked with construction material which led to water accumulation. Through coordinated efforts, the blockage was removed and effective dewatering operations were carried out, resulting in prompt resolution of the issue. JMC remains committed to ensuring public convenience,safety and continues to monitor vulnerable locations closely during the ongoing monsoon.
