JAMMU, Sept 2: The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has appointed former Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra as the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ram Temple, entrusting the former senior Indian Air Force officer with the responsibility of streamlining the temple's administration, operations, security and pilgrim facilities.
Mishra, who hails from Bhopatpura village in the Bhatpar Rani area of Deoria district in Uttar Pradesh, brings nearly four decades of experience in the Indian Air Force to his new assignment.
His appointment comes at a time when the Ram Temple is moving beyond its construction phase and evolving into a major religious and pilgrimage destination attracting large numbers of devotees from across India and abroad.
Mishra was commissioned into the Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot on December 6, 1986. During his distinguished career, he flew more than 18 types of aircraft and accumulated over 3,000 hours of flying experience.
He held several key operational and leadership positions in the Air Force, including senior command responsibilities. He also served as Deputy Chief of the Integrated Defence Staff, with responsibility for Policy, Organisation and Training. His professional career included training at prestigious defence institutions in India, the United States and the United Kingdom.
Mishra's extensive experience in leadership, strategic planning, organisational management and inter-agency coordination is expected to help the Trust deal with the complex administrative requirements of the Ram Temple.
As CEO, he is likely to oversee and coordinate various aspects of temple operations, including crowd and darshan management, security arrangements, staff administration, pilgrim amenities and coordination among government departments and other agencies associated with the temple complex.
The appointment is being viewed as an effort to bring a more structured and professional management system to the temple, particularly in view of the enormous footfall expected at the shrine.
Mishra also came into focus for his role during Operation Sindoor, India's military operation against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir following the Pahalgam terror attack.
His military experience and decision-making responsibilities during his service have added to his profile as a senior officer accustomed to handling complex operational situations. His appointment as the Ram Temple Trust's first CEO therefore marks a transition from military leadership to the management of one of India's most prominent religious institutions.
Mishra's journey from a village in Deoria to senior leadership positions in the Indian Air Force and now to the administrative helm of the Ram Temple marks a significant new chapter in his career.
With the temple emerging as a major centre of faith, pilgrimage and tourism, the Trust faces the challenge of ensuring efficient administration while maintaining security, discipline and smooth movement of devotees.
The Trust is expected to utilise Mishra's experience in managing large organisations and coordinating multiple agencies to strengthen the temple's administrative and operational framework. |
