| Director Horticulture Jammu visits Ghordi, Udhampur | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 12: Worthy Director Horticulture Jammu, Jenab Gul Syed, today visited Ghordi in Udhampur District, where a Farmers’ Awareness Camp was organised at Dalsar Panchayat. He attended the programme as the Chief Guest. On the occasion, Chief Horticulture Officer, Udhampur, Sh. Brij Vallabh Gupta, briefed the Director about the various horticultural activities being undertaken in the district during the current financial year. During the programme, the Director interacted with the farmers and held detailed discussions on the development and promotion of horticulture in the area. He listened to the issues, requirements and suggestions put forth by the farming community and assured them of all possible technical support and assistance from the Department. Jenab Gul Syed highlighted the importance of adopting modern horticultural practices, quality planting material, scientific orchard management and crop diversification for enhancing productivity and improving the income of farming families. He also stressed upon the field functionaries to maintain close coordination with farmers and ensure the effective and timely implementation of various schemes and programmes of the Horticulture Department at the grassroots level. The Director called upon the farmers to avail themselves of the benefits available under various departmental schemes and encouraged them to adopt innovative, modern and sustainable horticultural practices for better returns and long-term development of the sector. The awareness camp provided an effective platform for direct interaction between the Department and the farming community, with the objective of strengthening farmer-oriented services and promoting the overall development of the horticulture sector in Ghordi and adjoining areas of Udhampur District. The Director was accompanied by Assistant Director Horticulture, Sh. Sunil Gupta, and District Horticulture Officer Sh. Vijay Kumar, Technical Officer, Sh. Sandeep Sharma. Horticulture Development officer’s Sh. Rajesh Gupta, Adarsh Kumar, and Raman Thappa During the visit, he also inspected the PEQ Centre, Marta, and took stock of the various activities being carried out there. He reviewed the progress of the ongoing activities and directed the concerned officials to work with zeal, dedication and a result-oriented approach.
He impressed upon them to ensure the timely achievement of the targets assigned to them and leave no stone unturned in delivering the desired results. |
