DODA, Oct 8: Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minerals, Doda Police seized one tipper and one JCB machine in the Kahara area, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Gandoh, District Doda.
During the drive, a police team of Police Post Kahara, led by I/C PP Kahara, intercepted and detained two vehicles/machines found involved in illegal mining-related activities and unauthorized transportation of mineral material.
The details of the seized vehicles/machines are as follows:
Tipper bearing Registration No. JK06A-3405, associated with Irshad Hussain S/o Mohd Rustam Sheikh, found involved in illegal transportation of approximately 06 MT of nallah boulders. A fine of ?15,036 has been assessed by the Mining Department.
JCB bearing Registration No. JK06B-1626, associated with Amjad Hussain S/o Tahir Hussain, found involved in illegal mining-related activities involving approximately 50 MT of nallah boulders. A fine of ?45,300 has been assessed by the Mining Department.
Both vehicles/machines have been seized and retained at Police Post Kahara,
The total fine assessed in respect of both violations amounts to ?60,336.
Doda Police reiterates its firm commitment to curbing illegal mining, preventing unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals, and safeguarding the environment.
The general public is urged to cooperate with the police and report any illegal mining activities to the nearest Police Station or Police Post.
