MENDHAR/JAMMU, Oct 8: Army troops on Thursday detected and destroyed a landmine along the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar subdivision of Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, officials said.
The landmine was detected during routine patrolling in Balakote forward area and subsequently destroyed by a bomb disposal team, they said.
As part of an anti-infiltration obstacle system, the forward areas are dotted with landmines which sometimes get washed away by rains and are subsequently found and destroyed to avoid any untoward incident.
Goods truck rams into Army vehicle; no injuries
Srinagar, Oct 8: A goods truck and an army vehicle were involved in a road accident on Thursday at Bemina on the Pantha Chowk-Parimpora Bypass here, officials said.
No injuries have been reported.
The goods truck, bearing a Rajasthan registration number, hit an army vehicle from the rear at Bemina, pushing it over the road divider, they said.
The driver of the civilian vehicle lost control of the truck, causing it to overturn, officials said. |
